THE
HISTORY

Formerly known as Estúdio Marka Produções Áudio Visuais, The Kitchen Brazil was founded in 2016. Marka was a word that was created to represent the dubbing company, since the founding principals’ wanted a name that passes on the idea of a “Mark” of quality and responsibility towards their clients.

The history of dubbing in Brazil goes back decades, and today, virtually all foreign programs are dubbed for Brazilian TV audiences.  Films are generally both subtitled and dubbed with dubbing typically the only choice for children’s programming.  Subtitling was primarily the only choice for adult movies  in Brazil until 2012, and since then, dubbed versions have become available for all age groups and all types of programming.  As a result, in recent years, there has been a tremendous growth in local cinemas throughout the country attracting audiences that prefer only dubbed versions.

PEOPLE

ANÍBAL MUNHOZ, President of The Kitchen Brazil, is a well-known Brazilian actor and artistic director with a very respected 40-year history.

ANA PAULA MARÇAL is Production Coordinator, with 20 years of solid experience in dubbing and production with an innate understanding of every detail of localization processes. She worked in many studios in São Paulo and is now serving as Production Coordinator at The Kitchen Brazil. Her knowledge and problem-solving personality are keys to the growing success of the studio. Paula is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and understands Spanish.

NICOLE CARNEO is the General Manager of TKB and has 5 years of solid experience working with content for Discovery Networks. She works on two fronts: overseeing the production inside the studio and looking ahead to bringing new projects and to create new opportunities for the company. Nicole is credited with translating the Portuguese Version of CODA, Oscar's winning film, in 2022. She graduated in modern languages, Portuguese and French, at the University of São Paulo. Nicole is fluent in English, French and Brazilian Portuguese.

The Kitchen Brazil consists of three state of the art dubbing suites, designed and equipped with the highest modern digital technology.

The Kitchen Brazil - Expansion!
By the third quarter of 2023, The Kitchen Brazil will double the capacity of dubbing hours, reallocating the studios to a new building with 3 floors, a private garage for 10 cars, and 374 m², (10,763 sq.ft.). The new address is in Lapa, São Paulo, a neighborhood that has a large concentration of industry businesses. The goal is to prioritize recording in-house to guarantee sound quality and security for our clients. Aníbal Munhoz says: "We want to continue to grow our language service business in Brazil and planning this next step is crucial. Quality and security are keys to delivering high-value work for our clients. We are proud of where we are heading and our staff is united to make it happen."
